THE London Blitz emerged victorious from their first ever outing in the European Football League with a narrow victory away to Paris Flash de la Courneuve at the Stade Géo André.
American football’s equivalent of the Champions League, the incredibly close encounter saw the Finsbury Park-based side win by a single point to put them in the driving seat in their group.
An almighty scramble ensued with no fewer than three Blitz players all chasing after the ball as it bobbled into the end zone. Number 16, Russell Jordan jumped up from the pile with the ball to open the scoring, while kicker Jimmy Wyatt converted the extra point.
The home team got the score they were looking for when wide receiver Steve Delaval made the catch, but the Paris kicker hit the post.
The Blitz will now be looking to show more of the same fighting spirit when they host the Pioneers on Saturday at Finsbury Park.
