Thunder announce new signings.

The Sussex Thunder are pleased to announce three new signings for the final run-in of the 2009 regular season. The Crawley based team, despite seeking their first win in their debut season in the BAFL Premier Division, is still in with a chance of making the end of season play-offs. They face the Farnham Knights this weekend in a vital game for both teams.

The Thunder have moved quickly to replace QB Paul Robinson, who broke his wrist against the London Blitz. Will Greystone, who led the team to post-season action in 2005, returns to the club after a two year absence due to family & work commitments.

Also joining the club is centre Steven Clements, who has moved over from the Colchester Gladiators. Steve was a member of the all-powerful London Olympians squad for a number of years, collecting a number of National Championships whilst anchoring their offensive line.

Jo ining him to bolster the offensive line is 6ft 3in, 270lb tackle Ian “Shrek” McLean . The former GB Bulldog makes a welcome comeback to the Thunder after a successful spell playing rugby.

Club Chairman Tony Miller said, “Steve made a guest appearance for us in an exhibition game two weeks ago and liked what we are trying to put together and decided to join us for another spell of top flight football. He is a proven leader and will be a great asset to the team. With him and Ian McLean returning as well, it’s two top class additions to our squad. Will is a very intelligent player, has been practising with us for a few weeks now, and has quickly got his old touch back. He is an excellent athlete who can also play wide receiver”.

All three will be in action this Sunday against the Knights at Thunder Field. The game kicks off at 2.30pm .
