Blue Raiders announce new coaches
The Blue Raiders are pleased to announce the addition of two new members to the coaching staff as they continue to prepare for the 2010 campaign. Former Blue Raiders running back, Mike Wilson has become the new Offensive Coordinator and former BAFL standout defensive lineman, Lawrence Lamontagne will become the new defensive line coach.
Mike Wilson joined the Blue Raiders in 2007 from the Norwich Devils. Mike very quickly established himself as the centre piece of a much revered Blue Raiders rushing attack, posting his first career 1000 yard season in the 2008 season and narrowly missing out on repeating that feat in 2009.
Joining Coach Wilson on the coaching staff is Lawrence Lamontagne who is widely regarded as one of the best defensive ends to play the game in this country and joins the staff from the Coventry Jets.
Both Coach Wilson and Coach Lamontagne round out the new look Blue Raiders coaching staff which includes returning coaches Geoff Clarke, Michael Cox, Anthony Coverdale and Julian Fuller, as well as newly appointed position coaches, John Murphy and Jim Plagmann.
General Manager, Tony Law said. “We are excited to announce the additions of both Coach Wilson and Coach Lamontagne to the coaching staff. Mike has already brought so much to the Blue Raiders during his time here and he now has the opportunity to bring much more. After playing alongside Mike, I know that he has what it takes to transform our offense into a force in 2010. Any time you have an opportunity to have a coach with the calibre of Lawrence Lamontagne, only good things will happen. Even during his limited time with our defensive line we have already seen a big change, from the intensity in training to the enthusiasm of the guys when they talk about him. 2010 just got a little more exciting for the Blue Raiders.”
