“I was also very proud to be the first active Revolution player to pull on a Lions jersey. The coaching I received from the Revolution has been top class and without the efforts of my coaches and the wisdom passed on by team mates I'd never have been able to do this."
Club spokesman Mike Dalton said the team was thrilled with Alasdair’s achievements: “Al has been with us for years and all of his Revolution teammates and coaches are delighted about his selection.
He has come a long way from the fresh faced lad on the sideline eager to play, to a seasoned and game-hardened linebacker.
“It’s also a great honour for the Revolution organisation to have one of our own recognised in this way and it certainly shows the effectiveness of our coaching.
Technically though, Al is actually the second Revolution player to represent his country - offensive lineman Troy Newton, now in his forties, lined up for Great Britain over 22 years ago!”
