Edinburgh Wolves head coach Don Edmonston has called on the city gridiron side
to capitalise on a convincing victory as they gear up for two tough back to
back home games the playoff hunt. Edmonston praised the high scoring performance that upset favourites Manchester
Titans, and earned running back Allan Price the British American Football
League's Player of the Week award, but warned that the Wolves must stay focused
if they are to cage the Glasgow Tigers on Sunday.
The Wolves are keen to avenge a week one loss to Glasgow in a game that saw the
young Edinburgh side crash to a 16-0 defeat to their West coast rivals. But after Price's award winning heroics and a fierce defensive showing at
Meadowbank stadium a fortnight ago, former Scottish Claymore Edmonston says the
Wolves are more than capable of stepping up to the challenge. He added:
"The Tigers are always a hard team to play and this will be no different
they want to do the double on us and we need to keep winning to make the post
season. The Tigers beat us soundly in the first game of the season and deserved
their win but we weren't firing on all cylinders and we will be looking to
overturn them and maintain our perfect season at home. Since beating Manchester
we have installed a few more wrinkles to our offense and we now have more
options open to us and we expect to come out with all guns blazing on
Sunday."
The following week, Edinburgh face a rematch with
Lancashire Wolverines, another side the Wolves are keen to settle a score with
after a difficult away loss a few weeks back. However, the Wolves have shown a
great deal of improvement since the two sides last met so it promises to be an
exciting clash.
The Glasgow match on Sunday will be the second last chance
to see the Wolves at Meadowbank this season, and the game, which is sponsored
by Brendan's Barbers, will kick off at 2.30pm.
