Glasgow Tigers 32 Hull Hornets 0

The Glasgow Tigers ended the regular season with an impressive 8 – 2 record with this convincing 32 – 0 win against a sturdy Hull Hornets side, and now look forward to playoff action on 30th August.

Glasgow quarterback Matt McCusker was spreading the love in this game with passes to seven different players, with three of these to Scott Watson, Derek Russell and Ryan McCluskey ending in touchdowns for the home side.

Not to be outdone, the Tigers ground game from running backs Graeme Clee and Kieran Phillips, chipped in with a combined 150 yards rushing and a touchdown for Phillips.

Defensively the Glasgow side had a standout performance with three interceptions, one from Graham Whyte and another two from Nick Halfpenny, who weaved his way from 28 yards out to score a touchdown.

The Tigers linebacking crew of Thomas MacMillan, Jamie McCansh, Chris Lang and Kevin Connolly also excelled as they stopped the Hornets run game which forced the Hull side to try to move the ball through the air.

As the game wore on the Tigers defensive line dominated and managed sacks by Douglas Brown, Craig Begg and Paul Entrican on the harassed Hull quarterback.

At the end of the game Glasgow Head Coach Derek Taylor stated, “l’m enjoying the moment of being 8 - 2 today, and I’d like to thank the players, coaches and staff for their efforts, but tomorrow we have to get down to planning for the playoffs.”
