Lancashire Wolverines 13 Glasgow Tigers 8
The Glasgow Tigers slip to a
2-3-0 record losing 13-8 at Cambuslang Rugby Club on the 15th June
2008 in what was a third successive one score defeat for the Glasgow outfit.
It was a similar story for the
Tigers who started slowly conceding a touchdown on the Wolverines’ first drive
that was added to with a kicked extra point to make it 7-0 to the
visitors.
The Wolverines had a chance
to add to their lead early in the second quarter but a field goal attempt was
pulled wide.
They did score again
before the half was out with the last play of the half with the Lancashire quarterback
evading the pass rush, composing himself in the pocket and finding a receiver
of the middle who sprinted in to make the score 13-0 at the half with the kick
attempt failing.
The Tigers came out a different
side in the second half with quarterback Kris Kennedy looking comfortable and
aided by excellent running by running backs Graeme Clee and Nick Irwin.
It was Irwin that got into the endzone for
the Tigers running behind solid blocking and sprinting in from 60 yards
out.
Irwin then added the 2 point
conversion powering through the middle.
With the fourth quarter left it
appeared the Tigers had the winning of the game in the grasp.
Clee did cross the goal line but the score
was called back for a penalty.
The
Wolverines managed to control the clock with a long drive and when the Tigers
did get the ball back it was little too late.
The Tigers next travel to
Manchester on 22nd June to hopefully avenge the 22-20 defeat earlier
in the season.
