A 70 yard drive by the Glasgow Tigers on their
first possession was finished off with a 9 yard run from Kieran Phillips
for the games opening score, and then Derek Russell kicked the extra
point for a 7 -0 Glasgow lead.
The second quarter had just begun when Tigers quarterback Matt McCusker connected
from 55 yards out with receiver Ruaraidh MacDonald for a second Glasgow
touchdown. Just when Lancashire thought it couldn’t get any worse Glasgow got
another touchdown from the same McCusker to MacDonald combination this time
from 32 yards and the Tigers led 20 -0. The Wolverines regrouped and put together
a nice drive that ended on a one yard quarterback sneak for a score. The Wolverines added
the extra point and it was 20 -7 at the half.
An impressive amount of pressure from both sides ended in a third quarter stalemate with neither team adding to the scoreline.
In the fourth quarter the Tigers gained from the Wolverines all out attack in an attempt to get back into the game. The Wolverines defence stopped another Glasgow drive with an interception on their nine yard line. Then up stepped the Glasgow defense and a combination of pressure from Craig Begg and Chris Lang led to a quarterback fumble which was scooped up in the endzone by Matt Crammond. Derek Russell again added the conversion and the Tigers led 27 - 7. On Lancashire's very next
drive they fought back again with a sixty yard touchdown bomb that was
converted and left the score at 27 - 14. Then another Lancashire attempt was intercepted
by Glasgow'sDavid Carney who weaved his way into the endzone from 30 yards
out. Russell added the conversion kick for the 34 - 14 final score of the
day.
This result sees the Tigers improve to 4 -2 for the season , and sets them up
for their next home game at Lochinch on 12th July against the Edinburgh Wolves
