Glasgow Tigers 15  Clyde Valley Blackhawks 0

This game was a hard fought victory for the Glasgow Tigers where the
Blackhawks made the Tigers work extremely hard for every yard gained.

The first quarter saw both teams test one another out and a mistake by
the Clyde Valley punt team gave the Glasgow side a short field.

The Blackhawks defense held firm and forced the Tigers to settle for a Derek Russell  field goal from 21 yards out. This gave Glasgow a 3-0 lead
and was the only score in the quarter. It stayed that way until the end of the second quarter when a 20 yard interception return by David Carney, gave the Tigers the ball inside Clyde Valleys 10 yard line and quarterback Ally Choat took the ball in from 2 yards out for the touchdown. The Blackhawks blocked the extra point attempt and it was 9 - 0 to the Tigers at the half.

The third quarter started with the Tigers kick off returner Graham Whyte
taking the ball to the 30 yard line, and from here the Glasgow offense
on the power running of Kieron Phillips (who had over 100 yards on the day) marched to the Clyde Valley goaline where once again Ally Choat went into the endzone for a touchdown. This time Derek Russells extra point
attempt came bouncing off the goalpost leaving the Tigers 15 - 0 ahead.

The Blackhawks continued throughout the second half to try and get back into the game but some resolute defence from the Tigers held the Blackhawks main threat , running back Craig MacMillan and prevented them from making any big gains. The Tigers special teams unit including punter Kieron Phillips and returner Nick Halfpenny kept giving the Glasgow side good field position to see out the game.

After the win , Tigers Head Coach Derek Taylor said, "We were a bit rusty in our first game of the season , but I'm very pleased with the result against a well drilled Clyde Valley team"
