Chester Romans 0-26
The Glasgow Tigers began this encounter with a 56 yard
kick off return from Graham Whyte to put their offense good field position.
Tigers quarterback Ally Choat took full advantage on this opening drive, with a
20 yard pass to wideout Alex Paterson for the opening score.
Both teams then tested one another and it wasn’t until the
second quarter before there was any further scoring, when Tigers running back
Ian "Sparky" Dick scampered into the endzone from 21 yards out. Once
again, the Romans stopped the two point conversion to leave the score 12- 0 at
the half.
With Chester changing quarterback in the third quarter,
Simon Gibson sparked some life into the Romans offense, as they began to move
the ball and cause some problems for the Tigers defense.
At the start of the fourth quarter, Glasgow resumed
control of the game with fullback Gordon Lochrie's 4 yard blast up the middle
for a touchdown. Then an interception by Glasgow cornerback Graham Whyte, gave
the Tigers the ball again and Ally Choat marched his offense up the field and
fired the ball to wide receiver Ryan McCluskey for a short touchdown pass. Then
it was the Tigers running back Graeme Clee who had 29 carries for 174
yards on the day, who added the two point conversion.
The final score of 26- 0 left Tigers Head Coach Derek
Taylor to say, "Our defense were outstanding today and our offense showed
more improvement from last week so I’m pleased with the direction we are going
in."
