Saxons set to invade Europe
The Peterborough Saxons are headed to Europe thanks to
a partnership with the city’s newest social hot spot ‘The Sports Lounge’.
Opening on March 14th, The Sports Lounge, based in the heart of Peterborough’s
city centre is the only venue of its kind, showing a wide variety of live sport
from Boxing to American Football in a fun and friendly atmosphere.
Owner, Simon Baker was keen to get involved and impressed with the club’s
ambition was happy to put his name to an inaugural trip overseas as the Saxons
head to Bavaria in April to round off their pre-season preparations with an
exhibition game against the Munich Rangers.
Delighted Club Chairman Mark Kerr said, “We’re always looking to test ourselves
as an organisation, on and off the field. Our management team have worked
around the clock to make this trip a possibility and the support of The Sports
Lounge is the final piece of the puzzle. Playing overseas for the first time
will be an incredible experience for us all and one which should stand us in
good stead ahead of a tough domestic campaign. For four days straight, the
players will live, sleep, eat and train together culminating with our first
ever game on European soil. I can’t wait!”
Not content with pioneering the clubs first European venture, The Sports Lounge
will display their banners on match days as sponsors of a Saxon home game and
individual athlete throughout the 2009 season.
