Pumas sign experience to help guide their young cats.
The Maidstone Pumas announce today that Timi Aladewolu has signed registration papers and will rejoin the team after having a year and a half off due to injuries. Coach Navarro was pleased with the signing as he had been monitoring Timi’s off season rehabbing for some time now. “I knew that a big piece to the Pumas’ puzzle would be to see how we’d bring Timi back into the fold. Prior to resigning, I was in constant contact with him, reviewing his rehab program, and now it’s just a matter of getting him match fit.”
Navarro added, “Timi figured for us in the Essex match but it was his first time on the field in just over 20 months, and the rust showed, but everyone could see that the rust was hiding a Porsche, well not a Porsche, Timi’s WAY TOO BIG to be a Porsche, he’s more like Humvee, or better yet, one of those land movers you see at building sites. Timi played football in America to a high level and just having him on the field will create problems for the opposition as well as giving our defensive players someone to look up to.”
And in a surprise signing, Coach Navarro has brought in ex-Kent Exile running back Paul Crawford to help carry the ball and provide a calming presence for his precocious young star, James Cherry. “I had the pleasure of working with Paul over the past two years at the Kent Exiles and when given a chance he performed well. But due to his commitments to the Greenwich Mariners, Paul always started the season late and had to fight incumbents and players who were in the midst of hot streaks to get any playing time. At the Pumas he will get ample opportunity to show us the skills, that I know he has, as well as helping us mould the long term future of this club.”
While chatting with Coach Navarro for this article, I got the feeling that he wasn’t telling me everything so we asked him what else he had in store of us, and he replied “These two men are exactly what I’m looking to bring to this club, mature, experienced, level headed individuals who understand and appreciate the team concept that we’re building at the Pumas. But don’t sleep on me I’m working on a few more pieces to the puzzle as we speak. This is just the beginning, trust me.”
Well, we’ll certainly look forward to seeing what else Coach Navarro pulls out of his sleeves.
