Table toppers await Gateshead

After a busy weekend of action in which the Pirates weren’t involved, Scotland’s number one team now sit clear at the top of their Conference. An unexpected victory for the Yorkshire Rams against the Gateshead Senators gives the Pirates sole possession of the top spot, as the only undefeated team in BAFL 1 North.

The Scots look forward to the visit of the Tyneside outfit on Sunday, where they have the opportunity to extend their lead at the top to two games over their long time foe. The two sides have met no less than fifteen times over the last nine seasons, with the Pirates leading the series by nine games to six.

The first home game at Hamilton Rugby Club on 24 May was a huge success for the Pirates, as they ran out 40-0 winners in front of a crown of almost 200 fans. With the summer seemingly arriving early to the UK, it is hoped that the weather will hold out and allow the locals the chance to see a fantastic game in the sunshine. Once again, spectators will be able to enjoy a BBQ, licensed bar, music, live commentary and a free game day programme on entry.

The Pirates play the Gateshead Senators on Sunday 7 June. Kick off is at 2:30pm and gates open at 2pm at Hamilton Rugby Club, Laigh Bent, Hamilton. Entrance is £3 for adults and free for under 16’s.
