The East Kilbride Pirates, Scotland’s number one American football team have this week unveiled their brand new range of merchandise in conjunction with new partners, East Kilbride based sports store Sports Central. The new range, the largest that the Pirates have offered to date, has been designed by the team in conjunction with Sports Central, who will now take ownership for the manufacture, sale and distribution of the merchandise.

This partnership allows the Pirates new merchandise to be sold in store in East Kilbride, as well as worldwide via both the Sports Central website and their eBay shop. Not only does this increase exposure for the team, it allows the Pirates to generate an increased income, which is vital for teams continued success.

Speaking about the new partnership, Pirates Chairman Matthew Davies said, “We’re absolutely delighted to have a new partner in Sports Central. In the past, the Pirates have had to design, order and distribute all merchandise, as well as provide funding for this up front. Now, with Sports Central agreeing to take control of all aspects of our merchandising, we can ensure that our time and importantly the team’s money are spent on the activities that will take the team forward. Not only are the team at Sports Central committed to helping the Pirates they’re also big fans of our sport, making this an ideal partnership.”

It’s been a busy season so far in East Kilbride, with the Pirates securing a three year sponsorship deal with Scottish sports nutrition experts Extreme Nutrition and setting up a non contact senior flag American football team who are competing in the British Flag American Football League. The kitted team have won 3 from 5 so far and sit equal second in the BAFL Premier. See them finish their season at home in the run-in to the playoffs as they host the Bristol Aztecs on August 24th and the Birmingham Bulls on August 31st, both at Hamilton Palace.
