Pirates get serious about nutrition
On Saturday 29 November, the East Kilbride Pirates
were treated to a nutrition seminar by Doug Black, owner of team sponsor
Extreme Nutrition.
Scotland’s only BAFL Premier team were given advice
on diet and supplements to enhance their training. They were also given the
benefit of Doug’s considerable knowledge and had the opportunity to ask
specific questions covering issues such as building muscle, enhancing strength,
losing fat and increasing endurance.
The session, held at the University of Glasgow, was
also opened up to University and Senior teams in the area. Pirates Chairman
Matthew Davies said: “
We’re extremely
lucky to have a strong relationship with Doug and his staff at Extreme
Nutrition. Being able to call on the wealth of experience they have is
fantastic for our players. We all understand the importance of eating right to
maximise the gains from training and ensure our performance matches our
potential. The guys were all extremely positive about what they learned and
there's an expectation that we'll really see the benefit in the upcoming
season.”
The Pirates continue their preparations for the
2009 season with an open rookie day on 14 December at Duncanrig Sports Centre,
East Kilbride. To be a part of Scotland’s top team or to find out more, contact
