Merseyside Nighthawks
campaign for 2010.

On Sunday the 8th, 15th, 22nd November 2009 the Merseyside Nighthawks will be running their annual tryouts.

No experience is necessary to take part, but if you would like to come along and see if our sport is for you, the Nighthawks would be delighted to give you that opportunity.

Camp will start at 1:30pm with registration and will finish around 4:30- 5:00pm.

Full squad attendance won’t be until the start of January, so attending this camp is a great time to start with people of a similar experience and skill level. There will be some returning players attending as this provides the added benefit of some veteran players experience, who as well as the coaches, will be more than happy to help you and answer any of your questions. This will give you an opportunity to test your abilities and gauge your own standard.

The sessions will take place on the 3G all weather pitch at Birkenhead Park Rugby club and are free.

Address:

Birkenhead Park FC
Upper Park
Park Road North
Birkenhead
Wirral
CH41 8AA

Make you your way to the Rugby Club House for registration then we will head down to the pitch for the start of session.

For the camp we suggest you bring a combination of sweats/tracksuit or shorts and t-shirt (bearing in mind you want to stay warm and dry. There are changing facilities available) It is also advised that you bring moulded trainers and boots (ones suitable for grass and the other for the artificial surface, we are holding the camp on an artificial surface but it may also be necessary to use the field).

Initially the training at the camp will be non-contact, which is usual for ‘off-season’ training camps. The purpose of these camps is to have fun while building up the fitness and endurance necessary to play the game and also be introduced to the game whilst learning a few fundamentals.

The coaching staff may decide on the day to do some timed events to gauge skill levels (such as shuttle runs and some basic drills); these are useful to see progression over the weeks and months.

There may be an opportunity to try on shoulder pads and helmets for those who have never done so before, but contact drills will not start until full team training.
