Warriors appoint new Coaches

The London Warriors Urban American Football program would like to announce the signing of two new coaches: Jay Wood-Stoddard formerly of the Cinque Port Monarchs and Russ Hewitt former Head Coach of the Southern Sundevils join the organisation as the offensive line and defensive line coaches for the BAFL 2 Champions, the London Cobras.

Although Jay has spent the past several seasons running the Monarchs Flag program he has also been instrumental in trying to develop American football around the Cinque Port area.

From organising Leaders awards for school teachers, building positive relationships with the Sports Development departments to hosting flag tournaments and getting more people involved in American football Jay has been helping the sport grow.

After overseeing the BUAFL finals and Allstar game, Russ Hewitt was finally able to join the program. Having been involved with the Sundevils, which unfortunately suspended operations for 2009 and the university team, the Portsmouth Destroyers, Russ brings with him great experience and knowledge which will help the program to develop.

“From the program stand point both Russ and Jay are great additions to the program. Jay is eager to develop as a coach he brings experience and understanding in what it takes to develop an American football program.   While Russ is a great reminder as to why we coach. His enthusiasm and energy is a joy to be around and he will also be able to help the younger less experienced coaches develop. So really it’s a win, win for the program” Gerry Anderson, London Warriors Program Director
