The Hull Hornets are pleased to announce the first of their big signings for the 2008 season; quarterback Willie Sheird is joining the team from the USA where he played for the Virginia Cowboys of the Regional Atlantic Football League based out of Richmond, Virginia.   Willie has a fantastic football background, having played High School football at Lafayette High School in Virginia, he went on to play college ball at Ferrum College, Bacone College and South Western Oklahoma State, as he strived to complete his degree in Recreational Management.   Last year Willie was also the Offensive Coordinator for the Virginia Cowboys and helped them to a 10-8 record in their first season, including playoff games.

On joining the Hornets, Willie had this to say, “I am excited to be involved in this young and talented organisation, its going to take a bit of time to adjust to the British way of life but I am looking forward to contributing to an organisation that has its sights set on being one of the premier teams in this country.”   Willie will be working with all the offense to help them develop their understanding of the game and to increase the skill level within the core national players as well as just bringing a boundless energy and enthusiasm for the game.

Head Coach Pete Scorah commented, “This is a real coup for the Hornets to be able to bring in a player of the quality of Willie and to work with a guy that brings so much knowledge, passion and understanding of the game, the whole organisation at the Hornets is going to benefit from this young man playing with us”.

Watch out for further exciting announcements from the Hornets camp as the season approaches.
