The Hull Hornets are delighted to announce the second of their big signings for the 2008 campaign and when they say big they mean BIG!   Standing at 6’6” and weighing in at 220lbs fans and rivals may expect young Andrew Coplin to be playing somewhere on the offensive line. But wait a moment here’s the twist this giant of a man plays…wide receiver!!

Andrew joins the Hornets after successfully graduating with a degree in Business Management from Evangel University based in Springfield Missouri, however Drew – as he likes to be called – hails from Washington State. He now swaps being a Crusader to wearing the uniform of a Hornet. Through out his playing career Drew has played wide receiver, tight end and outside linebacker and has posted some impressive stats on both sides of the ball.   During his time at Evangel, Drew played in all 32 games for the Crusaders stacking up: 53 receptions; for 616 yards; 1 touchdown; averaging 11.6 yards per catch.   Drew has another weapon in his arsenal which the Hornets can use, as he was also the long snapper for EU, meaning that the Hornets will be able to develop their kicking game in time for the season.

On joining the Hornets Drew said, “I feel so privileged to be joining this team; I am really excited about the up coming season, what we can achieve and the direction that this club is going”.   Coach Scorah – Head Coach of the Hull Hornets – commented on Drew’s arrival, “Having a weapon the sheer physical size of Drew will give our game a whole new dimension, not to mention the wealth of experience that he brings with him and the skills and knowledge that he is going to share with our British players”.
Drew is going to be working with the Hornets receiver corps to help them develop their route running, handling skills and techniques for breaking away from defensive backs.   He also gives new quarterback Willie Sheird an experienced player who can take on the challenge of developing the guys around him.
