Taking the ball in the second half the Exiles continued to threaten the Saxons goal line, but after reaching the 3 yard line a string of penalties forced Starwind to take the field to convert a 27 yard field goal. Tackles from Marlon Smith, who was to lead the team with 10 on the day, and a Kerry Gray sack ended the Saxons next drive, and Griffiths then helped Starwind round off a great day (7 catches for 151 yards) with a 27 yard pass for the touchdown.
Now using the full rotation of their squad, the Exiles scored again when Starwind kicked a 38 yard field goal, before the Saxons scored late on with a 54 yard pass from Foster to Aaron Gepp to round out the scoring on the day.
Sitting with 5 wins and 2 losses on the year, the Exiles now face a tough road trip to the Ipswich Cardinals next week in a game which will show if their play-off aspirations are warranted. The fast improving Cardinals were beaten by the Exiles in the seasons opening game, but recently have improved greatly and are showing a late season run for the play-offs themselves.
