Clyde Valley Hawks 14 ~ 26 Gateshead Senators
Clyde Valley started the 2008 season with a loss to
Gateshead Senators on Sunday. Senators took the first possession of the ball
and marched steadily up field behind some powerful running by Gavin Barr and
Ian Dover, Barr rounded off the drive with a 25 yard streak up the sidelines
for the opening touchdown. A swarming Hawks defense prevented the extra points
being scored. Although Clyde Valley mounted a drive of their own it stalled in
their own half. Gateshead capitalised on this when Ian Dover burst through the
middle and sprinted 20 yards to the end zone to add to their tally. The extra
point was no good. In the second quarter Senators scored again on a catch and
run by Adam O’Brien from a long way out. This time Ian Dover carried the ball
over to bring the score to 20 – 0.
