London Cobras 34 Essex Spartans 6
|
Cobra's offense was finally clicking with a 10 yard scoring
pass from Allen to Will Bryce and a further pass to McGowan making the two
point conversion attempt good. Shortly before the half with no time
outs remaining Allen raced into the endzone for another score. The conversion
attempt was no good giving the Cobras a 22-0 half time lead.

A fumble of the very first play from scrimmage by the Cobras gave the Spartans and early advantage. As penalty flags continued to fly in the second half Spartans found themselves assisted inside the Cobra redzone. Lining up with four running backs Essex managed to do what many teams have tried and failed all season - punch it in for the score! A failed point after attempt left the score at 22-6 and the Cobra defense with an unfamiliar feeling.
|
It was not to last for the Spartans, as the Cobras quickly
recovered. An interception from Ariel Mofondo and fumbles forced by
Rob Jenkins, Jonathan Garcia and Kieran Anderson re established the usual Cobra
tone on defense. The offense quickly followed with a rushing touchdown
from Kwabena Oteng, once more the conversion failed, and a final hook up
between Allen and McGowan just before time expired left the Cobras with a 34-6
win.
Having left Essex with another win, the 5-0 Cobras
now take to the road for a long trip to Newquay for one of the most anticipated
games of the season against the Cornish Sharks.
