East Kent Mavericks 0 London Cobras 16

Facing their stiffest test to date the Cobras continued their impressive start to their inaugural senior season when they defeated the East Kent Mavericks 16–0 at Boston Manor.

After a tight first half when defense controlled the game the Cobras came out for their first drive of the second half and drove 75 yards to the opening score behind the hard running of running back Kwabena Oteng who fittingly ran untouched from the 20 yard line into the endzone. Ariel Mofondo converted the 2 point attempt behind the blocking of the Cobras offensive line.

With the dominant Cobra defense shutting down the Mavericks running game it was always going to be difficult for the East Kent offense to catch up. Even after the Cobras offense fumbled the ball in their red zone, their defense stepped up to force an Ariel Mofondo interception on fourth and goal snuffing out any chance of a revival.

The win was finally secured in the fourth quarter, when quarterback Jerome Allen once again led the Cobra offense down the field to the score that sealed the fourth consecutive win for the Cobras when he completed a 20 yard pass to wide receiver Manny Mukoro. Wide receiver Mark McGowan completed the scoring by catching the 2 point conversion pass.

The Cobras face the Essex Spartans this week before going on to meet the Cornish Sharks on the 13th July, which many believe will be another test of their ability.
