The Cambridgeshire Cats plan to unveil their new uniforms as they host the Norwich Devils, Sunday 6th May 14:30 kick off at Cats Field, Coldhams Common Cambridge. The Cats will hope the new look will inspire a change in fortune against their local rivals, after last years meetings with the BAFL2 quarter-finalists saw defeat on the road followed by a gruelling draw that either side could have won in the closing moments at Cats Field.
The Cats currently head the BAFL2 South East standings by virtue of a superior points difference over The Devils, themselves undefeated after a 25-0 shutout over the Essex Spartans. Norwich went 8-3-1 in 2006, and many believed were as strong as any outfit in Division 2 football. Established in Britball for over 20 years, the Devils have an all-time record of 103-98-5, but in recent years have bounced between the divisions with promotion or relegation from both sides limiting the match-ups between the geographically close organisations. The all-time record between the clubs stands at 7-5-1in favour of the Cats, outscoring their opponents 252-186. Head Coach Rick Bice believes his team are capable of extending this statistic; “We have had a great off season and have been preparing over the last three weeks for what we know will be a tough test to the Cats in this very young season. We are looking forward to playing Norwich and I expect it to be a good game. With that said, I am not looking to have the same results as we did last year against our rivals!”
The Cats are always welcoming of new players, coaches and fans. The Sunday practices are open, alternatively contact Head Coach Rick Bice 07834 269162 or visit www.CambridgeshireCats.com for further info
