Cats Line Boost

The Cats are excited to announce the return of Brian Jelley, a much liked and admired man within the Britball fraternity who helped the Cats qualify for the playoffs in 5 of the 11 years he was with the club in his first spell, after joining from the Newmarket Hornets in 1993. Primarily playing Guard on the offensive  line, Jelley has nearly 20 years of on-field experience, providing him ample learning opportunities to build his knowledge as a coach: “I have been privileged to play for and been coached by some of the most successful Coaches in the UK and feel I have the skills to pass on this knowledge to players of all ages playing this sport”.

Coach Jelley: Welcome return to the Cats.
Coach Jelley steps into Coach Shaw’s staff as offensive  line Coach, and whilst this may be his biggest coaching role to date, he has frequently been appointed club captain and coaching assistant throughout his career. Relishing the chance to lead the youthful Cats, Coach Jelley has the personal characteristics and self-belief required for the role: “I am loyal and enthusiastic and can be counted on to give 100% in anything that is asked of me. I work well with people and have been selected as either Team or Club Captain on numerous occasions because of my leadership skills both on and off the field. I thrive on seeing people enjoy the game, have fun and develop their abilities.”
This sentiment is echoed by Coach Shaw, whom after working with Jelley throughout their careers was eager to bring him on board when he took the helm at the Cats. Pleased with how their new working relationship has gone so far, Coach Shaw had this to say: “I'm confident offensive  line Coach Bri Jelley will give his best efforts; being creative and resourceful in using the talent we have on this team".

Tinsley: also returning to the Cats Pride.
In more good news for the Cats, Brian will also be returning as a player. His impact with the Cats is evident to this day, as even after 4 years away from the team he still holds kicking records for career points and field goals in a season. His return further boosts a Cats offensive line already buoyant with the return of young veteran Stu Tinsley, after his sabbatical year in 2008. Tinsley will be assisting his mentor Jelley coaching the offensive  line, as he adds his own unique expertise to the ever growing Cats coaching staff.
