Whilst the intended destination for the Cats BritBowl quest may be subject to speculation, the goal with the BAFL2 South East leaders remains unchanged. Six weeks on from the Cats record victory against the Pathfinders, the 5-0 Cambridgeshire team has one single objective, winning the BAFL 2 championship in September. Disinterested with winning margins, Cats Head Coach Ric Bice is simply concerned with victory with as little cost as possible, especially in terms of injury given the 3 consecutive roads games the team faces in July: “The win is our major priority, and no team can be taken lightly. Whilst MK have found the adjustment to the league difficult, we must respect all our opponents and we must not forget they scored on us when they visited Cats field for a scrimmage at the end of last summer”.

Cats D will have to be ruthless again against the Pathfinders.
The tie-breaker system for the playoffs puts an emphasis on the points conceded column, and defensive co-ordinator Sean Gray is never willing to concede points to any opponent at the best of times: “We’re really proud of our defense here over the past few years, and with the added responsibility not to concede points, we will be more motivated than ever. Luckily this year we have the squad and players that will allow us to keep players fresh. We have talented guys in depth so we can rotate and rest starters without it really impacting our intensity or ability on the field”.

Nearly a decade on from Milton Keynes’ Youth Flag Championship, the senior team has emerged over the past 4 years as the organisation has shifted towards kitted football. Rooted to the bottom of the table, the Pathfinders have shipped nearly 50 points per game, exceeding their season scoring tally of 48. These dry stats do not reflect the character and spirit shown by an ever improving outfit, and the Cats look forward to hosting a classy and genuine opponent and friend.

The game is the Cats penultimate home fixture of the 2008 regular season, and all spectators are welcomed to Cats Field, Coldhams Common Cambridge, for the earlier midday kick off.
