Cats are Shaw they’ve found their man

The Cambridgeshire Cats are pleased to announce that Minor League Hall of Famer Bob Shaw has taken the vacancy of Head Coach at the reigning BAFL 2 East Champion Cats. This will be Coach Shaw’s second stint with the Cambridgeshire organisation, having spent 3 seasons with the Cats at the turn of the millennium. The Cats qualified for the playoffs in each of these 3 seasons, and Coach Shaw is hopeful to continue this success now at the helm of the Cats in what will be his 13th year on the touchlines.

Coach Shaw – now a Dragon and a Cat.
Adept at coaching Britball in both the senior and college ranks, Coach Shaw has packed a vast number of seasons in these previous 12 years, with year-round commitments thanks to the High School season of his beloved Alconbury Dragons. Regularly touring Europe with the Dragons, the Alconbury side were unlucky to lose a close Super 8 Division IV championship game this past season, one of Coach Shaw’s proudest moments in football.  A student of all aspects of the game, Coach Shaw has spent time coaching line on both sides of the ball, co-ordinating both offense and defense, and even has experience working with special teams. Fully endorsed by his predecessor, former Cats Head Coach Bice was always keen on Shaw’s appointment: “Bob was one of the first people we hoped to get, and in truth the Cats are lucky to get him with other teams vying for his services. I’m confident Coach Shaw is the right appointment to continue the recent success of the Cats”.

Joining the Cats for their second recruitment and combine training session, Coach Shaw unveiled Coach Kimo Kuheana who is to be joining the Cats as Assistant Head Coach. Coach Shaw and Coach Kimo have worked together before at Alconbury. Coach Shaw states that this is the first link in compiling a complete coaching staff that will endeavour to teach responsible football. We will strive to be superior mentally as well as physically and technically.

New Season – Same work ethic as the Cats work hard through the winter.
The Cats 2009 pre-season is officially underway, with the return to weekly practices on Sundays from 1200-1500 at Cats Field, Coldhams Common Cambridge. For more information please visit the website www.CambridgeshireCats.com
