The Cambridgeshire Cats American football team are busy preparing for their 2006 campaign, and they’ll be stepping things up when they play a friendly scrimmage against the Kent Exiles on March 5 at 1pm. The head coaches of both clubs are close friends, having coached together at a number of clubs, and are looking forward to the next chapter in what’s turning into a friendly rivalry. "We did a similar thing last year down at Kent," says Cambridge coach Rick Bice, "and it was such a success that we agreed to host another scrimmage this year. "While we’ve been training hard since before Christmas, these preseason events are invaluable because they help our players to adjust to the tempo of a real game, and it will pay dividends once the regular season begins at the end of April."
The scrimmage will take place on March 5, 1pm, at Coldhams Common, Cambridge, and the Cats would like to welcome new fans and prospective players. If you are interested in playing American football for an established and well-regarded team, the Cats would like to hear from you, no matter what your experience.
