Blitz support Hurstwood Park Neurological Centre
Posted in: London Blitz, BAFL Premier    By Nick Manning Apr 28, 2008 - 10:01:05 AM

It is with great pleasure that the London Blitz American football team announce their fundraising intentions for 2008.

The Hurstwood Park Neurological Centre in Sussex is one of the country’s leading centres for brain injury treatment and rehabilitation, and the only operating centre in the South-East of the country. These injuries can result from trauma (traffic accidents, assault, falls, concussions caused by sporting injury etc.), tumours, stroke, anoxia or disease.

The League of Friends for Hurstwood Park has been in existence for a number of years and has raised close to £2 million during this time.   It is our intention to help them reach this milestone during 2008.

Blitz photographer ‘danh’ has recently had cause to raise funds for this unit as his Mother suffered a brain aneurysm in February this year. Dan intends to raise as much money as he can this year by selling his photographs, and the Blitz family have offered to help him raise as much money as possible. With this in mind, we have decided to make one of our home games this year a fundraiser to boost whatever monies Dan raises. This will be announced in detail at a later date.

Photographs taken by Dan during the season will be available for purchase at: www.photoboxgallery.com/danh_photos. Any photographs previously taken by Dan can also be uploaded for purchase.   You can contact Dan via the ‘Contacts’ section on this website.

Anyone wishing to make a donation to this charitable effort may do so

Brain injury is a traumatic event and one that American footballers face every time they take to the field. We are proud to be associated with Hurstwood Park’s League of Friends and are comforted that such a dedicated and professional organisation exists to rehabilitate those suffering brain trauma, whatever the cause.
