BAFL confirm Junior Contact teams for 2009 season
Following the closure of applications for teams, the BAFL can now confirm the teams who are eligible to play for a chance to become the national champions of Junior Football in the 2009 Season.
Two regional groups of teams one Scottish one English will battle and produce two play off entrants each, who will go on to the finals event to be held in September.
The teams eligible to take part are listed below.
England
Chorley Buccaneers
Coventry Cassidy Jets
Kent Exiles
London Blitz
Milton Keynes City Pathfinders
Sheffield Tomahawks
Standish Raiders
Scotland
Clyde Valley Falcons
Edinburgh Wolves
Fife Fire
Glasgow Tigers
Highland Wildcats
Inverclyde Nix
BAFL will now seek to consult with each group separately on the best solution for them to provide teams an opportunity to play each other. In Scotland a proposed schedule of six Tournaments of no more than four teams at each will be the starting point for discussions. In England the recommendation is that teams attend a minimum of three tournaments and complete nine games before they can reach the play–offs, however this is only a recommendation and a possible two sub–conferences of four and three teams is another option.
Because of the nature of regionalisation necessary for scheduling both Scotland and England will now schedule their own region independently of the other region.
BAFL Operations Director, Mark Blyth, stated "We appreciate there have been delays which have held up this process and we acknowledge that we must learn for next year to avoid the same pitfalls, but we ask you again to work together with each other and the league to get everything up to speed and to allow your players a chance to play. "
For the 2009 Junior Football Season, Doug Adamson has been appointed the schedule co-ordinator and he will be contacting teams shortly.
