Since the end of last season the Redditch Arrows and Kings Norton Rugby Club have been working together to improve the facilities at their Hopwood based ground. This has culminated in the recent opening of a 350 seat stand which has been erected in front of the main pitch at the ground and which will be in full use during the new football season. In what may be a unique arrangement within British American Football, the Arrows have gone into partnership with Kings Norton to fund the purchase and erection of the stand.

Club Chairman Chris Halford explains, “At the end of last season we were asked by Kings Norton if we wanted seating at the ground. They explained that they had the opportunity to purchase a stand and asked if we could partner them in this and help with the cost. Thanks to a very generous donation from Arrows

sponsor Ryan Matthew we were able to come up with sufficient funding to allow Kings Norton to go ahead, the result of which is that we now have excellent facilities for spectators at our home games. We firmly believe that this is a model that other clubs can follow in improving facilities. We have a great relationship with Kings Norton and feel that it is far better to work together to improve what we have rather than move elsewhere and have to address the issues that can come with that such as obtaining suitable dates etc. More importantly this has brought the two organisations even closer together and I have no doubt that we will work together on even more ambitious projects in the future”.

The stand will see its American Football christening when the Arrows host the visiting Dundee Hurricanes in the home opener on June 1st .
